Kleen Kanteen
Kleen Kanteen is capable of so many things. I have bashed, dented, dinged and baked these bottles and they continue to give me great service. They are stainless steel so you can boil water and cook food in them. Beware the wide mouth models as they do not seal very good. I've never had any problems with a small mouth however. The only drawback: they are very cold in winter and bare hands will stick to them.
GERBER BEAR GRYLLS CANTEEN
The Bear Grylls Canteen is the only canteen i've ever had that I can leave water in for weeks and have it not come out tasting funny. The plastic is superb. The only downside is the canteen cup is small and it is made of aluminum which I don't like to cook with.
NALGENE Waterbottle
Nalgene makes a good, virtually indestructible bottle that you don't have to worry about. The plastic isn't as good as the Bear Grylls, but they are very cheap and will last a lifetime with perhaps only a few cap replacements if you intend to drop them off a lot of cliffs. No metal means great to touch in the winter.
